Maindy Flyers Christmas Cross & a QUESTION?
Hi all,
I'm just recovering from another day at Blackwier
Park and I thought I'd better say a few quick words of
appreciation to all those who gave their time and effort to
ensure that today’s event went well; in fact it didn't just go
well, it went better than it's ever gone before.
Feedback I had from the riders was very very
pleasing, with many saying that they thought the course was nice
and fast. Some from Abergavenny said that they expected the
course to have been set out to favour Maindy Riders and that it
would include lots of ashfelt and fast flat ground with little
if any technical elements, instead they found what they
considered to be a fair and ideal cyclocross course.
Ian Jenkins ( Welsh Cycling) who was Commissaire
today included in his report that there could have been more
overtaking opportunities and these comments will be included
when the 2009 event / course is planned and laid out.
So again I must say a BIG thank-you to everyone
who put themselves out: the ladies doing the signing-on and/or
refreshments, I understand it was all go at HQ, the course
building/dismantling volunteers who were on-site from 07.30 and
were the last to leave the park after doing a great job of
clearing away all the litter we made and more. Those who spent
time marshalling the crossing points, some of which were
draughted in from other clubs, Justin for doing an invaluable
job on his motorbike, conveying results and signing-on sheets to
and from Maindy.
Alan D for getting there to encourage the riders
and for his camera work I can't wait to see the results and
thanks to Dave Llewellyn for getting a PA rigged up.
What was the question? Revolution 23 and
Cross
Oh Yes!
Many of the Abergavenny RC youngsters are going
up to Manchester for Revolution 23, which is on Saturday 10th
January, they're then staying up there and travelling the 30
miles to BRADFORD on Sunday 11th to ride in the youth races of
that round of the National Cyclocross Championship. These Youth
Races ARE NOT National Championship events but it's expected
that there will be in excess of 70 riders in the Under 12's who
we could race.
I understand that there are tickets still
available so if you fancy it (and if there is nothing else on)
how about going up and showing them what Maindy Flyers can do?
Thanks again, you've done Maindy Flyers proud.
If I don't see you on the Christmas Eve ride to
Cardiff Bay then I hope you have a very Happy Christmas.
