Ruby Miller Reports Back from the National Cyclo-cross Championship

"I felt really good at the start of the race and went into the first corner in first position and kept it most of the way around the first lap, until the first technical section where I slipped on some roots and my chain came off.

By the time I had put it back on I was back in 4th position. But I pressed on and gave it my all trying to get back into contention. On the second lap I took over Hannah Barnes and moved up into third position closing down on Hannah Shenton and Lucy Garner who were in first and second, and on the start of the third lap I caught them and pushed on passed them not letting them get onto the back of me. At the start of the last lap I was still out in first position and kept pressing on.

But approximately half was around the last lap I noticed Lucy had made a break on Hannah S and was catching me up. I pushed on even more and won by 11 seconds with Lucy coming in 2nd and Hannah coming in 3rd, making me national cyclo-x champion."
