BSCA Hill Climb Results and Thanks

from the Race Organiser

Please find attached the results for the WSCA Hill Climb. I hope all the riders "enjoyed" it. If we can manage to run this again next year at the same facility we'll allow everyone to do it twice to make it a bit harder.

Thanks to everyone who helped but I would like to make a special thanks to Rachel and Teresa in the kitchen who gave up the chance to support their own children to continue to provide teas and coffee's (especially my bacon roll), and to Gary who found the location, did much to set up the course and without whom we simply would not have had a race.

Don't forget the Maindy freewheel league starts 30/3/10, check the Welsh Cycling website for details, and the next WSCA event is the circuit race at Llandow on 1/6/10.

Don't forget to check out Bev Photo's for the Hill Climb in the Web Site Gallery

See you all soon

URGENT CANCELLED

Maindy (Cardiff) Youth Track Omnium 20th June 2009

A number of you have asked why the Omnium Track Meeting originally scheduled for 30th May, and  rescheduled for 20th June, has now definitely been cancelled. The cause has been un-expected complications arising from the renovation work being undertaken at Maindy. The organiser, with the support of the club committee and the centre manager, have remained positive and done everything in their power to try and ensure the event went ahead.

However, when further problems were highlighted last week and the hand-over date from the contractors to the centre manager was delayed further, a decision was made by representatives of all parties involved to cancel. This was felt to be the most appropriate action at this stage, so that riders and their parents still have the chance to enter the other Midland area event postponed from earlier in the season, to 28th June, at Newcastle-under-lyme, (closing date 13th June).

Welsh Schools Hard Track Championship 21st June 2009

WSCA CIRCUIT RACE CHAMPIONSHIPS, BRYNBACH PARK, 26TH APRIL 2009

a short note from Kay

"Well done to everyone who took part in the Circuit Race Championships on Sunday. For one of you it was your first race. For others, it was your first win at this level. As your coach, not only was I so proud of you all in the way that you rode, but also the way you conducted yourselves.  Not only supporting your team mates but encouraging all the other competitors throughout the races. The same must be said of the presentation, clapping and cheering not just for yourselves but everyone as they were called up to receive their medals.

So I hope your parents are proud of you but most importantly you are proud of yourselves... you deserve to be!!!!!!!" Click here to see results

Any Photo's, please send to Gary for inclusion in the Maindy Flyers Gallery

MAINDY FLYER JACK BROADLEY GETS A FIRST IN THE DOWNHILL

661 Mini Downhill Forest of Dean,    24th February 2009:   Article by Ric McLaughlin from the April edition of Mountain Bike UK

Another craze currently sweeping across Britain is mini downhill. Whereas a load of suit-wearing men in the city got it wrong, some full-face wearing men in a forest have been getting it all kinds of right! Mini DH offers a simple premise -short course DH racing for all ages. For the youngsters it's a great opportunity to get into the sport and for the wiser heads it's a chance to test themselves on a course that requires every single microsecond eked out of it. Bryn Bach races March and April 2009

These events are suitable for all youth riders and would be a great introduction for those who are new to racing as well as good practice for those thinking of taking part in the British Cycling Youth Circuit Race Omniums. It is understood that the younger age groups (Under 8 and possibly Under 10) will be using a new course that should be finished by the start of the events which is flat and is located near the BMX course. Everyone else will be using the course used in the past which you all know and love!

There are also senior races at the first three events for any parents who race or feel they might like to give it a try. The Youth events culminate in the Schools Circuit Race Championships on 26h April. There is further information on the Welsh Cycling Web Site ( click on the link Arriva backs racing at Bryn Bach Park)

Maindy Bowling Night
The Maindy bowling night took place on Saturday 7th February and it was a good night enjoyed by all. It has been noted that several members and their parents have a very competitive streak when it came to sinking the pins.
